RED ROCKETS!!!

When I stepped on the deck this morning this is what I found blooming. These flowers bring back great childhood memories! My mom grew these in her garden when we lived in Marshall, Mn in the early 60's. They're a biannual and grow to over 4 feet high. I got these seeds from my aunt a couple of years ago and these are the first blooms. In a few days they will have flowers almost half way down the stem. I wonder if my sisters remember these? There will be lots of seed that I'll have to pass on. I'm not sure what the 'real' name for this flower is but we called them 'Red Rockets'. What a sweet memory!

Gorgeous! We had some flowers that we dug up when we did the garage. Well, lo and behold, the other day I found a couple that were blooming in the dirt pile that we moved. They haven't been around for a few years either. :)
